IFLA成立ISBD修訂委員會, 於1981年正式規畫, 定期審視及修訂圖書、連續性出版品、靜畫資料及非書資料等ISBD。該委員會有三個主要目標:
(1)協調各ISBD, 增加其一致性
 (2)改進例子
(3)加強對非羅馬語系的編目員的支持。當年的短期目標是:
(a)檢視等號的使用方法
(b)考慮國際音樂圖書館員學會對ISBD(NBM)的需求
至1980年代底, 以上兩個短期目標都已達成。

ISBD主要的目標是明定全球相容的敘述書目記錄, 幫助國家書目機構在國際間互相交換書目記錄。藉由規範著錄的細目、順序、標點符號, 期望達成三個目標:
( a)不同來源的書目資料, 得以互相交換, 甲國的書目資料可以輕易的被乙國的圖書館接受
(b)跨越語文障礙, 即使不認識該語文, 仍可識得其記錄的內容
( c)協助轉換傳統形式的書目記錄為電子形式的書目記錄。

心得
  老師今天一上課就發期中考卷，看到自己的成績相當難過，因為自己考不好，怪自己前一天才在臨時背老師所要考的內容，背的很辛苦，寫考卷時也寫很辛苦，成績卻如此的爛，我覺得我應該好好反省自己對於這一科的態度，在每天上課前都要先預習老師即將要上課的內容，並事先下載好講義，上課完的當天晚上要回想今天上課內容，並把筆記和心得打好，考前一個星期就要開始準備考試內容，不能在再前一天臨時抱佛腳，這樣是沒用的，重點是盡量去理解知識，而不是死背，死背受不會吸收到腦海裡的，一下就會忘記，我決定要好好加油!

(1)沒有「資料特殊細節」項目
(2)「數量」應記為「面(葉)數、冊數或其他單位」

心得

今天老師要我們把第一著錄層次、第二著錄層次和第三著錄層次的細目寫出來，我居然沒注意到原來中國編目規則著錄圖書時(1)沒有「資料特殊細節」項目(2)「數量」應記為「面(葉)數、冊數或其他單位」，因此我記得我犯過的錯誤，希望在下周期中考假如有這題，一定不會寫錯!
